Claude + xCloud
Manage Your Hosting from Claude Chat with xCloud
Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, available on the web and in the Claude Desktop app. Connected to xCloud as a custom connector, it answers questions about your servers and sites, runs routine checks and, after you confirm, makes changes, all from a chat window.
- Add one custom connector
- OAuth sign-in, no token to paste
- Free with every xCloud account

YouYes, example.com only.

. Keep a human in the loop: xCloud stops and asks before anything that creates, deploys, updates, reboots, deletes or buys.
Setup
How Do I Connect Claude to xCloud?
Point Claude at the xCloud MCP server, approve access in your browser, then ask. The whole thing takes a couple of minutes.
Add xCloud as a custom connector
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Name it xcloud, paste this URL as the remote MCP server URL and finish the setup. Claude shows the xCloud sign-in page; choose the teams and Read-only or Full access.
https://app.xcloud.host/mcpCheck the connection
Start a new chat, check that the xcloud connector is enabled for it, and ask this. Claude calls xCloud and names your account and the teams you approved.
Who am I on xCloud? On Team or Enterprise, add it as an owner
Members cannot add custom connectors on a Team plan. An Owner or Primary Owner adds it under Organization settings, then Connectors, with the same URL. On Enterprise, a custom role with Manage access to Libraries can add it too.
https://app.xcloud.host/mcpCheck it worked
You sign in to xCloud in the browser when you add the connector, and xCloud supports dynamic client registration, so there is nothing to paste. Choose Read-only or Full access on the approval screen.
Who am I on xCloud?

Three surfaces
Which Way Should I Connect Claude to xCloud?
The MCP server exposes one tool per customer-facing xCloud operation and leaves out eleven internal ones that only the Public API carries; the skills add workflow know-how on top of an MCP connection and, on their own, only read access. All three are free with every account and differ in what you set up and what holds the credentials.
| xCloud MCP server | xCloud Agent Skills | Public API | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terminal needed | No (recommended for Claude) | Yes for the plugin or ClawHub install | Yes |
| Authentication | OAuth sign-in, or an API key with mcp:invoke plus read or write abilities (recommended for Claude) | The MCP connection, or a read-scoped API token | API token with scoped abilities |
| What it adds | One tool per customer-facing xCloud operation (188 today) (recommended for Claude) | Workflow know-how: routing, dry run, confirm, poll, diagnose | Raw REST for your own code |
| Changes to your infrastructure | Yes, after confirmation (recommended for Claude) | Only through a connected MCP tool, after confirmation | Yes, with write scopes |
| Best for | Most people; every MCP client (recommended for Claude) | Agents that run shell commands and read skills | CI jobs, dashboards and long-running loops |
Background
What Is Claude?
Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant. You use it in a browser at claude.ai, and in the Claude Desktop app, and you talk to it in plain language. It can read documents, write and reason through problems, and call outside tools when you connect them.
Connectors are how Claude reaches those tools. A custom connector points Claude at a remote Model Context Protocol server, and xCloud runs one at https://app.xcloud.host/mcp. Once it is added, Claude can use xCloud's operations the way it uses any other tool, and it asks you before anything that changes your hosting.
This page is about chatting with Claude. Claude Cowork is a separate desktop agent for delegated work, and Claude Code is the terminal coding agent. Each has its own xCloud guide, and the same xCloud connector works across the chat surfaces.
Why Claude with xCloud?
No terminal, no config file
You add a connector from Claude's menus and sign in with your browser. It suits an agency owner or a site manager who wants answers about hosting without opening a shell.
Ask in plain words
Say which site you mean and what you want. Claude finds the right xCloud operation, reads the result back in plain language and stops for your approval before it creates, deploys, updates or deletes anything.
One connector, several teams
A single xCloud connection can be authorized for several teams. Tick every team on the approval screen and name the team in the request when it matters.

Example prompts
What Can You Ask Claude to Do on xCloud?
Type these as written and swap in your own site and server names. Reads and routine actions such as backups, cache purges, PageSpeed scans and vulnerability scans run straight away; creating, deploying, updating, rebooting, deleting, buying or starting a broken-link scan stops and asks first.

- Claude connects to xCloud from Anthropic's cloud, not from your computer. The xCloud MCP URL is public, so this works without any firewall change.
- The Free plan allows one custom connector in total. Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise allow more.
- If Claude says it cannot see xCloud, check Customize, then Connectors, that xcloud is listed and enabled, and reconnect it if the sign-in expired.
- Chat is for asking and approving. For repository deploys from your project folder, use Claude Code.

Claude and xCloud: Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers about connecting Claude, what it may change and what it costs.
How do I connect Claude to xCloud?
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it xcloud and paste https://app.xcloud.host/mcp as the URL. Sign in to xCloud in the browser window that opens and approve the teams and access level. Then ask who am I on xCloud to confirm.
Does the xCloud connector work in Claude Desktop and on the web?
Yes. Anthropic lists custom connectors as available on Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Cowork on eligible plans. You add the connector from your Claude account, so you do not repeat the setup for each app.
Is Claude the same as Claude Code or Claude Cowork for xCloud?
No. Claude is the chat assistant, Claude Cowork is the desktop agent for delegated work and Claude Code is the terminal coding agent. They all reach xCloud through the same MCP server, but each has its own page because you set them up and use them differently.
Does Claude need an xCloud API key?
No. Claude signs in with OAuth in your browser when you add the connector, and xCloud supports dynamic client registration for it. You only need an API key for a client that has no browser.
Can Claude change my servers without asking?
Not for the operations xCloud gates. Reads run straight away, and routine actions such as cache purges, backups, PageSpeed and vulnerability scans run without a prompt. Creating a site or server, deploying, updating plugins or themes, rebooting, deleting or buying needs your explicit confirmation, and xCloud refuses the call otherwise.
Can I add the connector on the Free Claude plan?
Yes, but the Free plan allows one custom connector in total. If you already use another one, remove it or move to a paid plan. On Team plans an Owner or Primary Owner adds connectors for the organization.
Why does Claude say it cannot reach xCloud?
Claude connects from Anthropic's cloud, so the server must be reachable over the public internet, which the xCloud MCP URL is. The usual causes are a connector that is disabled, a sign-in that expired or an approval that excluded the team you named. Reconnect the connector and tick the team.
Is it free to use Claude with xCloud?
The xCloud side is free: the MCP server and the Public API are included with every xCloud account, including the free plan. Claude itself is billed by Anthropic under your Claude plan.
